Novel Environment
Several theories have emphasized that the novel environment, the novel
activities, and the novel social settings, free a person up from normal
constraints, so that more exploration can take place and there is more
excitement and motivation due to the stimulation of the novel situations
(e.g., Hattie, Marsh, Neill, & Richards, 1997;
Luckner & Nadler, 1997;
Walsh & Golins, 1976).
